Harley Quinn Black + White + Red emulates the previous Batman books which is jam packed with short stories by a skew of writers and artists。While the stories are just average the real stand out here is the amazing art work which is all done in black & white with the addition of red。In my personal opinion, storywise this was a throw away but as an appreciation of really good comic book art this is a keeper。 I don't think bi would ever read this book again but since having this book I have looked Harley Quinn Black + White + Red emulates the previous Batman books which is jam packed with short stories by a skew of writers and artists。While the stories are just average the real stand out here is the amazing art work which is all done in black & white with the addition of red。In my personal opinion, storywise this was a throw away but as an appreciation of really good comic book art this is a keeper。 I don't think bi would ever read this book again but since having this book I have looked through and studied the art 4x already。 。。。more

I'm stuck on what to rate this, it's either a 2 or a 3。 I really liked reading this until about half way then a lot of the story's were mediocre, then we had 3 Christmas issue。 2 of which were just awful but I like the hanukkah one。 Let's start with the good, we've got some great talent on this, Sean Murphy, Tim Seeley, Paul Dini, Sam Humphries and Stjepan Šejić。 I thought all their stories were great, some expanded on their previous work they've done on Harley whilst others were just a bit of f I'm stuck on what to rate this, it's either a 2 or a 3。 I really liked reading this until about half way then a lot of the story's were mediocre, then we had 3 Christmas issue。 2 of which were just awful but I like the hanukkah one。 Let's start with the good, we've got some great talent on this, Sean Murphy, Tim Seeley, Paul Dini, Sam Humphries and Stjepan Šejić。 I thought all their stories were great, some expanded on their previous work they've done on Harley whilst others were just a bit of fun。 Then we get to the mediocre, now as I've said there is some great talent on this book。 The problem is they're all on the earlier issues, so when you get to the halfway point there isn't a whole lot their。 Add to that the majority of the stories focus on Harley breaking up with the Joker, now the earlier ones did it in quite a unique way but these ones just felt like they were skipping to the same tune without adding their own thing to it。Lastly you have some real stinkers in her, like the Amanda Connors story, I'm sure if you enjoyed the run you might like it。 I personally hated her version of Harley, it's not Harley to me。 It just feels like she is imitating Deadpool, then you have some stories that are very reminiscent and inspired by that so I hated those as well。 I'm not a hater, I read them, I'll give anything a chance。 It's just to me that isn't Harley Quinn。 I'm Glad Sam Humphries story was it's own thing as he took over the run after them, for the record I enjoyed his stuff and his story in this was inspired by the animated series so what's not to like? It's good that DC is finally branching out with Harley, as her ongoing was getting a bit stale, grated this was after the talent dried up, I enjoyed it nonetheless。 。。。more

A collection of small, short stories of Harley Quinn from different artists and different writers。 As such, the tone and style differ greatly from one story to the next。 Some are dramatic while others are downright nutty。 The best story, in my opinion, is the first one by Stjepan Šejić。 It's a continuation of his Harleen comic he did last year。 I really hope Šejić will keep revisiting Harley Quinn in the future。 Other than that, the consistency in quality between stories is pretty irregular。 A collection of small, short stories of Harley Quinn from different artists and different writers。 As such, the tone and style differ greatly from one story to the next。 Some are dramatic while others are downright nutty。 The best story, in my opinion, is the first one by Stjepan Šejić。 It's a continuation of his Harleen comic he did last year。 I really hope Šejić will keep revisiting Harley Quinn in the future。 Other than that, the consistency in quality between stories is pretty irregular。 。。。more

I LOVE HARLEY QUINN And I love and hate some of the artwork。 I love the idea of using her prime colours for comic aesthetics。 Stjepan Sejic’s anthology has the best one out of all。

3。5This is an absolute mixed bag。 Each chapter is a different short story with a different writer and artist。 This means there's a whole range of different versions of Harley Quinn in this。 Most of them I loved, a few I couldn't get into the art style or story of。 Seeing Stejlan Sejic Harleen again was especially wonderful and although chapter one is probably still my favourite of the lot 3。5This is an absolute mixed bag。 Each chapter is a different short story with a different writer and artist。 This means there's a whole range of different versions of Harley Quinn in this。 Most of them I loved, a few I couldn't get into the art style or story of。 Seeing Stejlan Sejic Harleen again was especially wonderful and although chapter one is probably still my favourite of the lot 。。。more

I'm not a huge Harley fan, but this was actually a fairly entertaining anthology of short stories until it got bogged down in several holiday-themed tales in the closing stretch。 Christmas in June just wasn't working for me。 It didn't help that some creators tossed in a lot of unnamed and unexplained supporting characters who will be unfamiliar to anyone who isn't reading Harley's ongoing comic series。 The best tales focused on Harley or Harley and Poison Ivy。Also, DC might as well have called t I'm not a huge Harley fan, but this was actually a fairly entertaining anthology of short stories until it got bogged down in several holiday-themed tales in the closing stretch。 Christmas in June just wasn't working for me。 It didn't help that some creators tossed in a lot of unnamed and unexplained supporting characters who will be unfamiliar to anyone who isn't reading Harley's ongoing comic series。 The best tales focused on Harley or Harley and Poison Ivy。Also, DC might as well have called this book Harley Quinn Black + White + Red + Gray Wash because they went way overboard on that effect。 。。。more

I have got to say I enjoyed this a lit more than i thought i would。 The book is 19 chapters/short stories of Harley, and they are all fun and entertaining。 Yes I enjoyed a couple more than others but I can't think of one I did not enjoy on some level。I love the Black White and Red concept of the art。 The stories range from Harley's origin, Villain, henchwoman, break up, and even anti hero days。 They are not in chronology order, to be they were just fun as ot was a surprise of which Harley the st I have got to say I enjoyed this a lit more than i thought i would。 The book is 19 chapters/short stories of Harley, and they are all fun and entertaining。 Yes I enjoyed a couple more than others but I can't think of one I did not enjoy on some level。I love the Black White and Red concept of the art。 The stories range from Harley's origin, Villain, henchwoman, break up, and even anti hero days。 They are not in chronology order, to be they were just fun as ot was a surprise of which Harley the story would be about。 I especially liked that they included a story from the White Knight universe。Usually when I read a book of short stories, (each be a different writer, artist or creative team), I find usually prefer the teams closest to the way I see the character。 With Harley's psychosis/multiple personalities I can see every version being true to character。This is a great fun book of Harley stories。 Different visions, concepts and even artwork but everything in this book worked for me。 。。。more

This collection of stories about Harley Quinn take place in alternate universe(s), and one issue has nothing to do with another。 Add to that that in some stories it was hard for me to even tell where one image ended and the next began due to the black and white nature, and it just made for a very disjointed read that wasn't enjoyable for me。 This collection of stories about Harley Quinn take place in alternate universe(s), and one issue has nothing to do with another。 Add to that that in some stories it was hard for me to even tell where one image ended and the next began due to the black and white nature, and it just made for a very disjointed read that wasn't enjoyable for me。 。。。more

Some solid short tales featuring Harley Quinn in all her incarnations from some excellent creative teams。 In addition to stories set in the DCU, there's stories from Batman: The Animated Series, Batman: The White Knight and Harleen which was my favorite of all of them。 Some solid short tales featuring Harley Quinn in all her incarnations from some excellent creative teams。 In addition to stories set in the DCU, there's stories from Batman: The Animated Series, Batman: The White Knight and Harleen which was my favorite of all of them。 。。。more

really great comic collection。 Loved the different art and writer takes on the character。

Robert

At 10 issues it would have been a great collection - expanding it to 14? Some real stinkers slipped in。

Sarah Dunmire

Kind of disappointed。 I liked the overall art concept of black, white, and red (red being the variation from the black and white Batman version)。 Some of the chapters were too sketched for my taste (unclear lines and shading)。 Most of the chapter plots were pretty silly/shallow, and Harley Quinn has more than that to her。

A Harley centric anthology。 There are hits and misses here。 I really don't think a Harley Quinn rap battle was necessary, for example, but Sejic's continuation of his amazing Harley series was a great read。 But this started to drag a little over halfway through。 Nineteen Harley stories in a row might have been a bit much for me, especially since the last five are all holiday themed。 A Harley centric anthology。 There are hits and misses here。 I really don't think a Harley Quinn rap battle was necessary, for example, but Sejic's continuation of his amazing Harley series was a great read。 But this started to drag a little over halfway through。 Nineteen Harley stories in a row might have been a bit much for me, especially since the last five are all holiday themed。 。。。more

Collection of Harley-centric short stories。 Like any short story collection, some are hits and some are misses。 Unsurprisingly, god-king Stjepan Šejić's story is one of the best。 I'm still upset he isn't doing more Harley and didn't get to do his planned Harlivy series。 Collection of Harley-centric short stories。 Like any short story collection, some are hits and some are misses。 Unsurprisingly, god-king Stjepan Šejić's story is one of the best。 I'm still upset he isn't doing more Harley and didn't get to do his planned Harlivy series。 。。。more

Some shorts were better than others, the art was really good especially what each artist could do with the limited colours。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 There are some bangers in here。 Stjepan Sejic, Amanda/Jimmy, and Pat Schumacker put out three of the best issues。 This collection is a fun time, so here are my personal highlights (by issue #):#1 - Stjepan is my favorite artist in comics right now。 We get to go back inside his brilliant, cerebral Harleen universe。 I know he’s a busy man, but I hope to god maybe one day, we’ll get to see his Isley project completed。 Harleen is probably the best Harley story ever, and I would die if he even came c There are some bangers in here。 Stjepan Sejic, Amanda/Jimmy, and Pat Schumacker put out three of the best issues。 This collection is a fun time, so here are my personal highlights (by issue #):#1 - Stjepan is my favorite artist in comics right now。 We get to go back inside his brilliant, cerebral Harleen universe。 I know he’s a busy man, but I hope to god maybe one day, we’ll get to see his Isley project completed。 Harleen is probably the best Harley story ever, and I would die if he even came close to that level of quality in interpreting my other favorite character, who also happens to be severely underdeveloped by DC at large。 Until then, at least we’re blessed with his fan art and other books。#2 - Catwoman/Harley fashion show!#4 - Gotham’s underground rap scene。 I like the urban, tatted Ivy look。#8 - Holy 80s shoulder pads, Batman。 Harley is out here breaking pirates’ faces while springing around in high heels and what looks like very heavy hair。 Fantastic。 Best quote: “You seem like the types to listen to logic and reason。” *Proceeds to knock the shit out of two guys using her fists, named Logic and Reason。*#9 - Throwback to Batman the animated series。 A fresh, but vintage look。 Old-school villain Ivy is MEAN but hot as hell。 This is the issue she looks her absolute best。#11 - Harley schools basic thugs on how she would kill the Justice League, then outsmarts Batwoman in a foiled arrest。 People can’t seem to help themselves when constantly undermining her intelligence, reducing her to a sex object, goofy lunatic, or pathetic victim。 It is extremely satisfying whenever she proves these people wrong。#12 - Nathan the wiener dog ❤️!!!! The scatupult returns!! Harley Crew sleepover!!! “Red Tool” just goes by “The Tool” now, lmao。 Amanda Connor/Jimmy Palmiotti do NOT disappoint。 Their run is legendary for a reason。#13 - I laughed way too hard at “Wheat Privilege: A socially conscious bakery。” This issue is a nice treat for fans who have to wait for season 3 of the HQ animated series。 Bane’s dialogue is pure gold。 He apologizes for “Banesplaining” the legion of doom, and I cackled。 Patrick Schumacker is a gift to the world, man。There are some duds。 Some issues that are pretty forgettable。 I think the highs make up for the lows。 The one thing that kind of bothered me is that the last issue is a huge downer。 Overall: good fun, and cheap $1 issues。 The digital format is sleek and enjoyable。 。。。more

This collection was a TON of fun, and I'm sad to see it come to a close。 There were highs and lows for the stories, but it was consistently good。 I reviewed each of the chapters at letsgopodcast。com, so check them out if you're interested!
